Mage Leveling Tips

I’ve found these tips invaluable in leveling my mage, but if you want a shortcut I really recommend you take a look at Zygor’s Guide. It’s the best WOW Mage leveling build guide you can get.

Anyway, here’s a few other tips:

  • Make sure you do a small amount of planning. By sitting back and considering, “Do I have time to run this instance?”, “Do I have drinks, reagents? ” Plan a little and things will run a lot smoother.
  • Behave. Treat others as you expect to be treated. The best way of finding good groups are by being a nice player, and getting on decent peoples friends list. Do your job, don’t call people morons, noobs, idiots etc. Pretend you’re sitting face-to-face with the people you’re playing with, instead of treating them like material objects without emotions.
  • The leveling “spec” of each class is:

Shaman: Enhancement, since you will rely on doing melee damage without the need of mana.

Rogue: Combat, this is the easiest specc since you need not to gouge > backstab enemies. Just spam your Sinister Strike (SS) with eviscerate (Evis) / Kidney Shot (KS) when you need.

Warrior: Fury, since you should wield two different one-handed weapons. Which will do more DPS than wielding a two-handed weapon.

Mage: Frost. Since you get alot of survivability with it and it’s quite handy in PvP aswell.

Priest: Shadow. More DPS and less downtime (waiting for mana / drinking for mana).

Warlock: There are arguements about wheter Affliction is better or Demonology is better. I’d say Demonology is easier since your pet is better, therefore, you do not rely on yourself having great equipment / great skills. Affliction is “easier” if you got good equipment and you know how to “drain-tank” whilst DoT’ing several enemies at once.

Paladin: There are also arguements if Protection is faster than Retribution. I say, specc Protection, and with a touch of Holy. Use consecration and throw in a heal or two when you need.

Hunter: Beast Mastery. With this specc, you can almost go afk and let your pet kill things for you. You only need to use your auto-fire at enemies as your pet will chew threw them. (Best pet to level in my opinion is a cat.).

Druid: Speccing Feral is by far, the fastest way of leveling. Using cat form to totally rip apart one enemy, or going bear form and destroying three – four enemies whilst you heal yourself.

  • Use a proper wow leveling guide (one that shows you in-game exactly what to do), and not what I would call a leveling ‘reference‘ (where you have to keep flicking between that and the game.

Mage Leveling Guide – Mage Build Awesomeness!

Hi. Johann here. I was just getting my Mage rolling, and got to level 8, but that was like after 2 weeks of playing! I’m looking everywhere for tips on what routes to take to become a powerful mage.

I’m in Westfall right now, but wondering if there’s a better place (more mage-ish!?) for me to go, and what profession, if any, do I need to get?

Loving WOW though!
